Claire E.

Claire is a National Board Certified Teacher and experienced literacy educator who has been helping students become stronger, more confident readers and writers since 2006. She holds a Master’s in Teaching from the University of Washington and has taught reading intervention, language arts, and social studies, working primarily with middle school students. She has also worked as a Teacher-Librarian in Seattle and Vietnam. Claire is trained in Slingerland Introductory Level, The Hochman Method by The Writing Revolution, Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham and is in the process of completing training in Reading Simplified. She believes reading and writing are foundational skills for lifelong learning and uses explicit, effective instruction to help students build skills and confidence. One of Claire’s favorite parts of teaching is matching students with books they can successfully read and actually enjoy! She loves helping students recognize their growth and become more confident learners. Claire works with students from upper elementary through high school. Outside of teaching, she enjoys reading, sewing, rowing, skiing, backpacking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
