Emilee C.

Emilee brings over a decade of dedicated teaching experience to the classroom, focusing on creating equitable and engaging learning environments for all students, especially in diverse, multicultural schools. Her career began as an interventionist, where she spent time working with students on reading and math. This experience included utilizing various phonics programs and instructional strategies to support students with learning disabilities. She then spent seven years teaching second grade before transitioning to her current role in sixth grade, where she enjoys helping students learn and grow. To further her specialization, she completed the intensive Orton-Gillingham Comprehensive Course and is certified in the OG approach. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University, specializing in Language Arts. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Valley State University, with an emphasis on differentiation. This combined training ensures she can meet the individual, complex needs of every learner in her classroom with precision and confidence. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys being outdoors, including camping with her dog in the mountains or curling up with a good book. Also, karaoke!
