Michelle is an experienced reading instructor with seven years of teaching experience in elementary education. She is a former elementary teacher for Jeffco Public Schools, where she taught kindergarten through third grade students. She received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder, along with a professional teaching license, before entering the classroom. Once in the classroom and working with young readers, Michelle quickly realized that the reading curriculum she was teaching did not always address foundational literacy skills. In search of a way to better meet the needs of all her students, Michelle earned a master’s degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Reading Instruction from Grand Canyon University. Additionally, she received training in the Orton-Gillingham method through IMSE Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham K–2, pursued further training in the Science of Reading, and holds a READ Act Teacher designation in the state of Colorado. Michelle is also trained in the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum. As a lifelong learner, Michelle is currently pursuing her English Language Learners endorsement in the state of Colorado. When not tutoring, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, soaking up the Colorado sunshine, and reading.
