Meet our Tutor

Josie D.

Josie is a passionate and patient Orton-Gillingham trained dyslexia tutor. Originally from New York, she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, Politics, Law at The State University of New York at Binghamton. After graduating she moved to Colorado where she gained teaching experience as an English as a Second Langauge tutor and a Registered Behavior Technician for children with autism. Later she went on to receive her Associate level Orton-Gillingham training through the Orton-Gillingham Academy. For the past three and a half years she has been private tutoring using the Orton-Gillingham approach for students with dyslexia and ADHD. She has also taught literacy intervention in small groups to grades 3rd through 5th at a private school. Josie loves connecting with her students and ensuring that they feel comfortable and supported. She customizes each lesson to the needs of the individual student, and likes to include games to keep students engaged. When she is not teaching, Josie enjoys learning Spanish, walking her dog, and reading. Josie is a life-long lover of reading and hopes to empower her students with the skills and confidence needed to enjoy reading as much as she does!
