Jacquie currently serves as a special education learning specialist in a 5th grade English/Language Arts classroom. Over the years, she has supported students across a range of grade levels, from sixth grade general education to targeted reading and writing intervention. She also has extensive experience working with multilingual learners. Jacquie has a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Miami University, a Master of Science in Secondary Education from Johns Hopkins University, and a Master’s in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. She also completed an advanced certificate in K–12 Literacy at Columbia University and will soon hold New York State certification in literacy. Her training in Orton-Gillingham through the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education helped deepen her passion for structured literacy instruction, particularly in supporting students with dyslexia. She especially enjoys helping students develop fluency and explore the building blocks of language through morphology. Outside of the classroom, she loves exploring new places and traveling, and is currently training for the NYC Marathon.
