Alexandra D.

Alexandra is a licensed elementary school teacher in Minnesota and Pennsylvania. She has worked with students in various settings, including first and second grade classrooms, special education, and as a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from North Central University in Minneapolis and spent part of her studies teaching abroad in the Dominican Republic. Her favorite part of teaching has always been reading group instruction—witnessing students’ “aha” moments, bonding over stories, and building individual connections. Seeking to better support struggling readers, Alexandra pursued extensive training in the Structured Literacy approach and the Science of Reading. She now tutors online and has seen firsthand the effectiveness of the Orton-Gillingham approach for learners with diverse needs. Alexandra believes in empowering students through hands-on learning, working at each child’s pace, and celebrating successes—big or small. Outside of teaching, she enjoys playing the piano, traveling, exploring small towns, and trying new restaurants. Most recently, she and her husband made a big move across the country to Pennsylvania, where they’re starting their family and enjoying less brutal winters.
